Introduction
Most people who need a neurologist have already waited longer than they should have.
Not because the symptoms weren’t real, but because it wasn’t clear whether what they were experiencing was serious enough to warrant a specialist. A headache that keeps coming back. A hand tremor that started small. A few moments of memory fog that feel embarrassing to mention. These things accumulate quietly, and the question of when to act rarely has an obvious answer.
This page is designed to give you answers. Not to alarm you, but to help you make an informed decision about whether a neurological evaluation makes sense for you.

Signs You Should See a Neurologist
Not every neurological symptom is an emergency. But some need prompt attention, and others simply deserve more than a primary care doctor can give them. Here’s how to tell the difference.
Seek evaluation without delay if you’re experiencing:
- A sudden, severe headache unlike any you’ve had before
- New weakness, numbness, or tingling, especially on one side of the body
- Sudden changes in vision, speech, or coordination
- A seizure or episode of altered awareness β including one that was witnessed by someone else
- A significant change in memory, thinking, or behavior that developed quickly
- Difficulty walking, frequent falls, or a sudden change in your gait
Consider a neurological consultation if you’re experiencing:
- Headaches or migraines that are frequent, worsening, or no longer responding to treatment
- A tremor, stiffness, or change in movement that’s affecting your daily life
- Memory concerns, cognitive fog, or changes in your thinking that have been gradual but persistent
- Dizziness, balance problems, or unexplained falls
- Numbness or tingling that comes and goes β in the hands, feet, or elsewhere
- Seizures or episodes that have been evaluated but aren’t fully explained
- Neurological symptoms that remain unresolved after seeing your primary care doctor
- A neurological diagnosis you’ve received elsewhere that you’d like a second opinion on
These aren’t necessarily emergencies, but they’re also not things to keep monitoring indefinitely without answers. A neurologist is the right specialist to evaluate them properly.
What Happens at a Neurological Evaluation
A neurological evaluation begins with a detailed conversation about your symptoms: when they started, how they’ve changed, and how they fit into the broader picture of your health. This history is often more diagnostic than any test.
From there, your neurologist will conduct a neurological examination, assessing how different parts of your nervous system are functioning. When additional testing is warranted β imaging, bloodwork, nerve studies β your doctor will explain what’s being ordered and why.
Getting that kind of evaluation β unhurried, with a physician who has time to actually know your case β is what TNC is built around. There are two ways to access care here, depending on your situation.
Two Pathways Forward
TNC serves patients through two models of care.
Medicare Concierge Membership For Medicare patients, we’ve structured a membership model that lets us bill Medicare for covered services while offering concierge-level availability through a membership fee. Most concierge practices opt out of Medicare entirely β we’ve built a model that makes both work together. Learn more about Medicare concierge membership β
Direct Pay For patients not using Medicare, we offer direct-pay consultations with transparent pricing and no insurance complexity. Same-day responses, appointments within 24β48 hours, and physicians who give you the time your condition actually requires. Learn more about direct pay neurology β
Not sure which applies to you? The free 15-minute introductory call is the right place to start. It’s a real conversation to understand your situation and determine which pathway makes sense.
